It may be easiest for most families to create a single children's profile and if unrestricted access is required they can simply Snooze all filtering to allow full access to the Internet. See below for more information on Snooze all filtering

    • Add a Profile
You may have many profiles, one for each user of the computer for example. Each profile can allow access to various items on the Internet. This first profile is set up during installation and you can add more profiles later. Select a profile name (for example "kids") and password and enter these. Then select one of the preset levels for access such as child or teenager. You will be able to adjust the settings later.
Once you have entered this profile information select [Next >]
    • The finish screen will appear, click the [Finish] button
    • The completing installation screen will reappear. You must reboot to complete the installation of the software select [Finish] now and your computer will be automatically restarted.
That brings you to the end of the installation of the software.

    NOTICE
wfilter.exe must be allowed to access the Internet by any firewall or security software in order for Bruce Telecom Parental Controls Software to work.

Working with Profiles in Parental Control Software WARNING
The last profile used is the active profile. If you are using an adult profile and want to leave the computer you will want to change the profile to a children's profile first.
  1. Creating Additional Profiles
You can run the Parental Control Software with a single profile and if unrestricted access is required there is a Snooze feature available to disable Parental Control Software for a period (for example 15 minutes). Otherwise you may wish to add additional profiles.
    • Click Add New Profile
    • Enter the Master Password
    • Choose a profile name, password and preset. "Kid Safe" only allows a list of webpages that you define to be viewed. See Customize current profile for more details.
Do not use the Master Password for this password
This will add a new profile

  2. Switching between profiles
    • Select Switch current profile
    • Select the profile name you wish to switch to
    • Enter the password associated with that profile
This will switch to the selected profile

  3. Customize current profile
    • Select Customize current profile
    • Enter the Master Password
    • You can change the profile name or profile password or just click [Next >]
    • Adjust the web browsing settings and click [Next >]
    • Adjust File Sharing, Instant Messaging, and Newsgroup settings and click [Next >]
    • Add websites to the Always Allow or Always Block lists. If the profile is a "Kid Safe" profile then only sites listed in the Always Allow list will be available. This is the ultimate security for small children as you must add each site that you approve. Once done click [Next >].
    • Click [Finish >].

  1. Snooze all filtering
    • Select Snooze all filtering
    • Select the amount of time you wish the filtering to be snoozed.
    • Enter the Master Password to enable the Snooze.

  2. Web Alerts
Web Alerts allow you to have a site blocked instantly and an alert sent to be manually checked for categorization. You would do this if a site comes up that may not be properly categorized or uncategorized and it should be.
